Prop 8 Recap

Were we successful with Prop 8? YES. Is the fight over? NO. I don't know if you heard but there was a rally and protest march outside the gates of the LA temple last night. A few fights broke out, people were arrested, traffic was backed up. It amazes me how hard the adversary is working against us, still. No, I don't think this battle will be over for a long time....maybe not until the second coming. The neat thing is that our ward has become stronger than ever and it feels good to take a stand for what you believe in, even if it means being ostracized. After waiving Prop 8 signs one morning I took Max to pre-school and he told his teacher "I was waiving signs!". She said, "yep, there are a lot of signs because there is an election going on". Then Max said as he was flapping his hands in the air, "No, I waive signs like this and you yell YES ON 8, YES ON 8 like that". I'm glad he got the message. Too funny. It's amazing how much they pick up on. It's nice to know that I have so much control and influence over him for the time being. As parents I guess that's what we do. Teach them the values we believe in and then let them govern themselves. Josh and I were so busy with making phone calls, waiving signs, putting flyers on doors, placing signs throughout the community, watching those signs get stolen within a matter of minutes, putting Honey on the signs and video taping people, etc. that we seriously slept and vegged out for a good 24 hours after the election. Josh had a great experience toward the end of the election day. We were both frantically making phone calls (Max running around and Audrey needing to be feed) when Josh got ahold of someone who lost their absentee ballot. It was 7:30pm and the polls were closing at 8pm. Josh gave this nice lady the information she needed to go out and vote at her designated polling place. She said she wanted to vote yes on 8 but wasn't sure what to do with losing her absentee ballot and was gratefull Josh had called. I believe that even during the last few minutes of campaining our efforts for Prop 8 allowed us to make a difference.

I am immensely proud of all of you! I have had you in our prayers and thoughts. We are dealing with a protest on the Salt Lake temple as Im writing this. You are definitely right about the adversary. I am so grateful to be a member of this church! what a blessing. I am thanking you and Josh personally for all your hard work!

When did you get all grown up and wise and stuff? :)

I am really proud to have an older sister who is so firm in her beliefs and not afraid to share what she stands for. Josh is great too.

honey? that's awesome! the guys in our ward used grease. I would love to see the stake-out videos. Rob went on a few stake-outs himself (and with the kids)!
